YENİ YAZILARIM- ARTICLES IN PREPARATION

TÜRKÇE (For English text, please scroll down.)

Milli Merkez kurultayının toplanacağı Yenimahalle Nazım Hikmet Kültür Merkezi'ne devam etmeden önce Anıt Kabir'i ziyaret ettik.

Buraya bakmaya devam edin!

ENGLISH

On the 16th of April, we were in Izmir toshow solidarity with the 310 officers to be put on trial on "espionage and adultery" allegations!

Barely back from Izmir, we took off to Ankara to witness the birth of and demonstrate our support for the "National Center", an alternative to the present government which is fast losing credibility and any valid claim to representing the nation. That was yesterday, April 23rd, National Sovereignity Day and Children's Holiday, one of the National Holidays systematically discredited by the AKP government. The day commemorates the founding of the nationalist Turkish Parliament on that date in 1920, the first step towards the Republic. The date for the "National Center Congess" was of course consciously chosen, to recall that first Parliament assembled in adversity. Before going on to the rendez-vous for the Congress, we stopped at the mausoleum of Kemal Ataturk, founder of that first parliament and the Republic, and were happy to see how many others had had the same idea. Many were accompanied by their children, very appropiate for the Children's Holiday and a sure sign of how completely the Republic and its values and ideals have found acceptance with the people of this country- quite contrary to the assumptions of the AKP and its backers in the US!

Two articles, one about the day before the courthouse in Izmir on April 16th and another documentng our impressions of Ankara on April 23rd are currently being put together. So keep checking out this space!
